In each case, insurance is the second-largest cost for ride-hailing drivers after fuel. Bolt wanted to support its drivers with access to affordable, adaptive insurance that reflected the way they actually work.

For gig workers, finding the right insurance can be a challenge. Traditional policies fail to account for the realities of gig work. The unpredictable schedules, varying hours, and the fact that many drivers operate across multiple platforms.

For the platforms themselves, rewarding loyalty and building meaningful, long-term relationships with drivers is equally complex. In such a competitive market differentiation is becoming a major brand challenge.

A new approach was needed, a new partnership was needed. One that could reward driver loyalty while giving them access to tailored coverage directly in their app.

Embedded insurance adapted to usage levels

Cachet made it easier than ever for ride-hailing drivers to access usage-based insurance. We did this by introducing a customised embedded insurance flow within the divers app.

By leveraging real-time work pattern data, Cachet’s adaptive insurance solutions dynamically adjusts premiums. Taking into account a driver’s schedules hours and on-road habits, rewarding responsible behaviour with lower prices.

The embedded experience reduces friction for drivers by allowing them to purchase and manage coverage directly within the same platform they use for work. This also enables Bolt to tailor discounts in line with existing loyalty tiers in the Bolt Rewards Program.

This transforms insurance from a one-size-fits-all product into a responsive, data-driven service that aligns with the realities of platform work. As a result, Bolt drivers gain smarter coverage, reduced costs, and greater control.
